With constant work which is performed across the world, our daily energy use is in high demand. Our methods of obtaining this vary from great to worse and are in even higher demand for clean and natural sources. There are many crossroads in the future of energy which have bright promises. Which road we travel on is our key from our past to a new stronger generation
What we have is a large base of generating technology handed down by scientists, which have created a base for new technology to exist. Techniques used to perform tasks of generating tremendous amounts of energy have stretched out our resources and demanded the submission of our earth. The main contributors to our modern system of energy creation are from petroleum, coal, natural gas, as well as nuclear and renewable sources which power turbines to produce energy. World energy production in 2006 note by the EIA (Energy Information Administration) have a steady increase and projection of petroleum, coal and natural gas use which contribute near 75% of our energy production, while nuclear and renewable sources are on a rise from 25%. Along with worldwide production, the U.S. follows these trends with continuous usage and creation of coal and petroleum projected for the future. This gains a large amount of national attention and political affairs.
While U.S government supports renewable energy, we still do and will continue to use fossil fuels vigorously with a gradual increase in renewable energy over time. This is a dangerous trend when it comes to the amount of emissions and global warming that result from its use.
Action and opportunity are words that seem to revolve around reports from laboratories and committees who research around the issue and our government focuses billions of dollars into research and development of biomass and geothermal energy creation. Prospects such as geothermal energy could basically change the course of the history of energy since its capacity is near the same as that of a nuclear power plant and the byproduct does not damage the atmosphere. This will hopefully be a wakeup call to those in our energy departments that better forms of technology exist and should be used to utmost capacity! Political and corporate endorsements should be constantly in effect to ensure proper growth of our renewable energy source.
Politicians need to act responsible for our country and make a good the wrong that has encompassed our energy sector. Our goal for reform should be a reversal. Now is the time to act to secure our strength as a leader in technology and progress and be mindful of a better future.
