Each autumn the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame releases a list of music artists that are being considered for induction into the Hall of Fame. Each year when the list comes out there are fans who protest because one band or another did not make the list. This year one group of fans can rejoice in the fact that their favourite band is at least on the list. The hard rock band KISS has made the preliminary list. It is the first time the rockers have made it to the list of potential inductees. Fans will know for sure in December if the masked faces of the Detroit band will grace the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame come next March.
Joining KISS on the list for the first time are hip-hop artist turned actor LL Cool J, rockers Red Hot Chili Peppers, English rockers Genesis, Jimmy Cliff, and the sixties band The Hollies. Songwriter Laura Nyro is also being considered. Artists who have made the list before but not quite to the Hall are disco diva Donna Summer, Darlene Love, the Swedish quartet ABBA, the Stooges, and sixties girl group the Chantels.
Artists become eligible for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame 25 years after the release of their first album. When the Hall of Fame inducts the 2010 class of rockers, the Hall will be celebrating 25 years.
The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductions take place in New York City on March 15.
