Around 9:15 am this morning it was reported that a teacher from John Tyler High School in Tyler Texas had been stabbed to death by a 16 year old student.

Todd Henry,a special education teacher at the school was pronounced dead at the scene and an unnamed student had been taken into custody by police. Mr. Henry was a well liked and very respected teacher who had spent most of his career working with children with disabilities. Henry was also a local musician and play in a local band.

Reports are that the student had a history of behavioral problems, but the motive for the stabbing has not been established. With the suspects age, police are being tight lipped about his identity

Tyler School District is under fire from many parents and concerned parties for the recent decrease in security at the school. Many students and parents have voiced complaints of increased gang problems and fighting at the school since the reduction of regularly placed hall monitors.

At a press conference this afternoon following the mornings tragedy, Tyler School officials were confronted by angry parents concerned for their children's safety. Some parents stated that they had complained about the increased violence at the school and nothing had been done.

School officials say that classes will resume tomorrow as scheduled with an increase in security. Many say that is too little, too late.
