Fire has blazed over 9,700 Acres

MOORPARK, California - A DC-10 drops fire retardant in hopes of slowing down the fire that has covered over 9,700 acres in Ventura County. Twenty percent of the fire is contained, but the blaze is expected to cover at least 10,000 acres before the end of the day.

The fire, which began Tuesday, is threatening an above-ground gas line, oil production fields, and power lines, according to Nick Schuler with CalFire.

The cause of fire is still under investigation, but Ventura officials believe the fire started on a local ranch started by spontaneous combustion of manure.

That is so devastating. I hope they get it under control before it reaches the gas lines and oil field, that would be really, really bad.

The fire is 16K plus now. With the Santa Ana winds blowing and low humidity this fire has great potential at growing. Weather isn't supposed to improve until Tuesday.

I do suggest that there should be strict compliance in farms ,ranches and other livestock centers to avoid wild fires.
