Is Obama stance on Gay marriage still the same?

People like me question if our president is following through with some of the stances that he has portrayed in the pre-election interviews. Obama clearly stated in many interviews on the "LOGO" channel and "CNN" that he believes that the definition of marriage is between a man and a woman, but he supports civil unions between a gay or lesbian couple. I, myself, do not know how Me as a gay man myself is suppose to see that statement as a way of every man under the Constitution to have equal rights. It is good that even tho Obama obviously does not full hearted support gay marriage, that he is willing to "think" about the Gay and Lesbian population and "push" for a civil union.

BUT, what has he done? In the year that Obama has been in office he has totally neglected this statement that he has said. NOTHING has been done to make gay marriage legal, or push for civil union of gay/lesbian couples.

Lucky for some of the New England States, They have individually past laws to allow same sex marriage. But those of us over here in the Pacific North West, have no way of any kind of legal bond, OR is there anything in the works to make it legal. Nothing is being done to give Gays and Lesbians the rights that they should have like everyone Else in this country.

For all of those people out there who oppose same sex marriage, and don't think its right for 2 guys, or 2 women to get married, just think if you couldn't get married because, you liked to eat chocolate ice cream and it was only accepted to like vanilla... That would be a totally opposite reaction right? because its ice cream i mean... how does ice cream compare to being gay? They are EXACTLY the same, A gay guy likes other guys, just like you may like chocolate ice cream instead of vanilla. its a lifestyle that they have because its who they are.

Different countries including the UK have figured this out and have laws in place because of the realization that gays are just like straight people and should be treated no other way. In some of these countries it is ILLEGAL to call someone a "homo" or "queer" in a demeaning way, they could prosecute you in court if done.

The united states needs to catch up to the times and realize that Gay marriage should be no different then a "straight" marriage. Just because the two people are of the same gender doesn't mean they cant love each other just as much as a straight couple does.

This problem needs to be fixed! and our politicians need to do what they say they are going to do!

i agree with you, gay marriage is not different then straight marriage, after all marriage is for people who love each other n why does it matter if its a guy n guy or a girl n girl getting married.

Your ice cream analogy lacks logic. The person that likes to eat chocolate ice cream could choose to eat vanilla instead of eating the chocolate. If a homosexual wants to stop being discriminated against, then that person can choose to no longer be homosexual. And to follow Europe's lead in anything is absolutely ridiculous. If it was not for the USA taking the lead during the 20th century, all Europeans would either be speaking German because of WWI and WWII or Russian because of communism. Europe should follow our lead and federally ban same-sex marriages like we do.

Ok idk if you do live in the US... but the United states has no authority over who gets married and who doesnt...that right is to the states, and the states only...LIKE I SAID... in my report...Obama wants to legalize civil union for everyone, BUT there is no ban on same-sex marriages, it is up to the state, which is why 5 and at the new year 6 states allow same sex marriage, and New York and Washington DC recognize the union but don't perform the marriage. Because its our RIGHT to be free, and be with who we want.... or do what we want same sex marriage can-not be federally banned because it would break our constitutional right, n i will always fight for that!
