The Truly Asian country fearful that others are hijacking its truly Asian roots, now finally have staked claim to the Chicken Rice amongst others.
Tourism Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ng Yen Yen said there were many dishes synonymous with Malaysia’s identity but they had been “hijacked” by other countries.
“We cannot continue to let other countries hijack our food. Chilli crab is Malaysian. Hainanese chicken rice is Malaysian. We have to lay claim to our food,” she told reporters after launching the Malaysia International Gourmet Festival yesterday.
.....
“In the three months, we will identify certain key dishes (to declare as Malaysian). We have identified laksa ... all types of laksa, nasi lemak and bak kut teh,” she said.

Laksa should be proud to be considered. Bak Kut Teh surprisingly managed to scrape through, being a lowly pork dish.

While food seems to be welcome, other things are not considered truly Asian enough.(video here )

A temple it seems would hinder the ability of the Truly Asians ability to functions as Muslims.

They claimed that the "noise" from the temple would disturb their own praying, and that they would not be able to function properly as Muslims.

And in Truly Asian spirit, bloodshed is promised.

“I challenge YB Khalid, YB Rodziah and Xavier Jeyakumar to go on with the temple construction. I guarantee bloodshed and racial tension will happen if this goes on, and the state will be held responsible,” shouted Ibrahim Haji Sabri amid strong chants of “Allahu Akbar!”
