after winning the toss N.Z decided to bat first and with the help of N Broom 66, M Guptil 63 and 57 of Rider made 301 runs. Pathan took 3 for 46 in his 10.

In reply India all out for 198 with the help of Nayar's 41 and Dravid's 37. Bond, Vetori and Oram took 2 wickets each.
