Where was Jimmy Carter in the primaries?

Where was Jimmy Carter during the Democratic primaries? Carter says that the American people don’t think that Obama can lead the country. So did Hillary Clinton and her supporters. I wonder what Carter would say of that?

Mark Penn, one of Clinton’s chief advisors, thought that it was crazy to think that Americans would elect someone with a name that sounded as foreign as “Obama” and lived in Indonesia. White liberals agreed with his policies but said he should “wait his turn” and Clinton herself even implied that he should be her apprentice.

Jesse Jackson talked about castrating Obama when he was on his ascent for “speaking down to black people” about such issues as responsibility. His words made those of Joe Wilson look tame yet its Wilson who’s castigated.

Much has been made of this fascinating Labor Department report , which USA Today put on its front page. It shows that women now hold almost half of all jobs in the US (49.83 percent, to be precise), up from 31.8 percent in 1964.

I heard that former President Carter had said that some opposition to President Obama was race-based, I had to agree with him. I too believe that some of the passionate and over-the-top ad hominem attacks on Obama are only slightly coded racial slurs.

Carter was an Obama supporter (and superdelegate) during the primaries and nominating process.

Like any politician (or preacher), Jesse Jackson has said some dumb things, but he never interrupted any of President Bush's speeches to call him a liar.
