What Is Your Fashion Criteria?

In this eclectic society, different people buy different clothes for different reasons, whatever their reasons. Everyone has their own individualistic criteria that affect the choices they make in wearing certain clothes or styles. Criteria can be based on price, haute couture, fashion magazines, celebrities, fashion models, community, society, friends, school, culture, media, other influences, or a combination of different influences. No matter which influences that you depend on in order to help you create your personal style, your preferred influences will help you make selective choices toward creating your unique style.

As I browse through my closet and drawers, I have noticed that my clothing criteria tend to be mixed from various influences. I often check out fashion magazine pages and Internet fashion websites as well as people watch at public places and window shop at malls. You can gather a plethora of fashion information from watching young people in society as well as checking out mannequins in store windows. I noticed that you don’t really have to depend on fashion magazines all the time, although they have artistic photographs that are fun to check out. While I get my haute couture ideas from fashion magazines and fashion Internet sites, I realized that living in Southern California, dressing in such clothes would make me look out of place. So, I enjoy monthly trips to a local mall in order to window shop and figure out ways to wear haute couture styles in a laidback Southern California way.

Therefore, my style tends to be a toned-down haute couture. I enjoy wearing the French-influence clothes and accessories as well as the interesting jewelry that are inspired from various countries, but I also wear the casual skinny jeans, leggings, miniskirts, cargo pants, capris, wrap clothes, and sundresses. Updated shoes, purses, hosiery, hairstyle, makeup and accessories can easily turn a casual outfit into haute couture. It is all about adding the right details to a basic outfit in order to polish it up and make it look very chic.
