The Democrats are a bunch of self-hating members of the elite upper-class. At least that’s what I think, based on a couple of articles I read on Allvoices. The recent article, “The Top 10 Richest Members of Congress”, written by steph10, reveals 8 out of the top 10 wealthiest members of Congress are in fact Democrats.
No surprise to many but a surprise for some I’m sure.
Why are the Democrats always seen as the defender of the poor, while the Republicans are viewed as the evil, greedy, self-interest orientated politician.
Clearly the richest members of Congress are Democrats, isn’t that proof enough that the Democrats are the evil, greedy, self-interested orientated politicians. They are the richest.
John Kerry’s the richest member of Congress; Jay Rockefeller, is a Rockefeller and a Democrat; the Kennedys are wealthy and they are all Democrats. How is it that the Republican’s are considered the “money grabbers”?
Maybe it has something to do with the fact that the richest Democrat leaders do not back down from taxing themselves. They are willing to give up their own money to support entitlement programs that they propose.
Maybe it’s the fact that while the Republicans are not the richest of the members of Congress, they are willing to borrow money from China to give the top 5% of America almost two and half billion dollar tax cut. Money that is still collecting interest. I think majority of the Democrats did not vote for those tax cuts.
The kind of tax cut that was suppose to help the economy, by giving the rich more incentive to become rich.
When a Republican reads a statistic like 8 of the richest 10 members of Congress are Democrats and thinks, “Ha! See the Democrats are the greedy ones! We’re not the blood thirsty capitalist, it’s the Democrats!” it just makes the Republicans look like the bigger blood sucker.
When a Democrat sees the 8 to 10 ratio, he or she may end up seeing it as “Hey even though they are the richest, they are the ones trying to help the rest of us.” Maybe a Democrat sees it this way because they are Democrats, but maybe it has something to do with the fact that they are able to respond to the complexity of a statistic better than a Republican.
Or maybe a Republican sees what a Republican wants to see in a statistic and a Democrat sees what they want.
Nevertheless, I think the point of this article is that many times there is more depth to a statistic than many who use stats for political purposes realize. 8 out of the richest 10 members being Democrats at first may seem like a political point for the Republicans, but it is really a point for the Democrats.
