Yesterday, Oprah Winfrey remembered on her show, in her Harpo Studios, her February 1993 interview with the King of Pop at his Never-land Ranch. Looking back, she said three things: she was inexperienced; she hates people plugging their book; she should have befriended Michael Jackson.
Throughout her show, Oprah kept commenting on how she was not prepared with questions for Jackson. She was going to go in front of all of the world and just ask him questions that would come to her after he would answer previous questions. Now, Oprah reprimands herself for that move. She remarked how that could have ruined her career if Jackson decided not to answer one question. Her question from answer method was risky in front of a "live" interview. She had nothing planned if nothing came from a question.
Oprah remembered on her show how she asked Michael Jackson about his skin bleaching and his plastic surgery. She remarked at how mad he was acting in his response. He immediately told her and all of America to buy his book, Moonwalk, in order to get the answer about his skin turning "white". He said that his father told him that it ran in his family and someone in his family had it. He also told Oprah that everyone does plastic surgery but he could only count his times of doing it on one hand---twice. Oprah said yesterday that she did not believe him. He did admit to having his nose done.
At the end of her show yesterday, she regretted that after her interview with him that she left it at that and never tried to reach out to him. Oprah wonders now that if she reached out to him then perhaps he would have had that friendship that would have allowed him to be alive now. She can only wonder.
Note that this show was played a day after her two day special on Whitney Houston who she stated in those shows as reaching out to her and Whitney agreed that she reached out to Oprah in a "spiritual connection".
