In his upcoming memoir, The Time of My Life (out Sept. 29), Patrick Swayze writes about his incredible 34-year marriage to wife Lisa Niemi.
"How grateful I am that you chose to love me," he writes, in an exclusive audio clip of Swayze reading from his memoir. "I know that because of you, I've found my spirit. I saw the man I wanted to be. You are my woman, my lover, my mate and my lady. I loved you forever, I love you now and I will love you forever more."
Swayze died Monday at age 57 after a 20-month battle with pancreatic cancer.On Tuesday's episode of The View, Swayze's pal andGhost costar, Whoopi Goldberg, offered insight into the couple's incredible union.
"The two of them were in love. They were also together," Goldberg said, with her voice cracking. "I can't explain it any other way."
