CROMWELL, Connecticut - The arrest of Yale lab technician Raymond Clark, III, 24, for the murder of Yale graduate student Annie Le, 24, has finally happened. He has been the only person of interest in the case from the very beginning.
Clark was taken by police at 8:10 am Thursday from a Super 8 motel in Cromwell, Connecticut, where he spent the night after being released from police Wednesday morning. They were waiting on DNA results for evidence.
Authorities linked the DNA from Clark and Le, both of whom worked in the same building. Le disappeared on September 8th, her body was found Sunday inside the basement wall of the lab building she was seen entering on Tuesday. Le was never seen alive again.
The police took Clark into custody Tuesday night and had a warrant to test his DNA. He was released Wednesday morning, but police were keeping a good eye on him until they got the DNA evidence to arrest him.
Swiped cards Le and Clark used to move throughout the lab building showed they were in the same room shortly after 10 am on September 8th. Clark had scratch marks on his chest and failed lie detector tests.
The official cause of Le's death was "traumatic asphyxiation due to neck compression."
New details about Clark are emerging. Police were summoned to a Connecticut High School in 2003 after an unidentified woman reported Clark forced her to have sex with him. The woman declined to press charges.
