Babysitter Files: September 14

My cousins got new hair cuts the other day from a new haircuttery and part of the promotion was free pencils. Now normally you look at a pencil and see a pencil; but if you're four years old... not so much.

It started off this morning, before the seven year old went to school. The two of them were playing very calmly and nicely (shocker) when all of a sudden the pencils came out and they began an impromptu lightsaber battle. I put a stop to that quickly and they went back to playing for a while before it was time for big brother to leave.

The four year old began to play with his Duplos (he calls them Du-pu-los) and told me a story as he went. He built an 'ice cream machine' and told me about how he was 'stealing' it from 'the other guys'. After a little while the pencil yet again made an appearance, this time as a car that was towing the Duplo creations around. When he got bored of that the pencil was a plane, a rocket ship, a bridge, a spring board... I was pretty tired of that pencil by the end of the day.
