Palin Plans Media Kiss-Off for China Talk

A speech Sarah Palin plans for later this month in Hong Kong won’t leave the room, CNN reports. Not only will reporters not be allowed in, but they won’t even know what they’re missing. “We are not disclosing the topic of Sarah Palin's presentation at this point,” says a rep for the 4-day event. As for the former Alaska governor's fee, rumored to top six figures, mum's the word. “We never disclose if, or how much, our speakers are remunerated,” says the spokeswoman.

Whether or not Sarah Palin wins the GOP nod in 2012, she will remain a political force on the far right and to the Dominionist wing of the Christian theocrats who make up a good chunk of the Republican base. Her victim mentality plays well with a certain segment of voters, and it can be very tempting to a certain type of personality to see oneself as a victim rather than taking the steps necessary to move into empowerment.

What I said the day after Obama-Biden defeated McCain-Palin continues to hold true more than ever: Those who underestimate Sarah Palin do so at their own peril. Palin is definitely a top-tier contender for the Republican presidential nomination in '12.
