Federer serves to del Potro during the men's final at the U.S. Open ...

In a match that lasted over four hours, Juan Martin Del Potro upset Roger Federer in five sets to win the 2009 US Open Men's championship. The scores were 3-6, 7-6, 4-6, 7-6, 6-2. It is Del Potro's first major championship. He will turn 21 later this month.

Del Potro's victory ends a streak of 40 consecutive match wins for Federer at the US Open. He won five consecutive US Open titles from 2004 through 2008.

This is jsut the fourth time that the US Open Men's championship went 5 sets and the first time since 1999.
