    Illegal Immigrant. Legal Money!!
Tesfaldet Telsoy - a millionaire in his own right!

Should we be a sympathetic nation when it comes to illegal aliens? You might think that the answer to this - a simple yet resounding NO - need not be difficult at all. But, for the Swedish Government trying to deport Tesfaldet Tesloy back home, the HOW TO of Sending Back Illegals to where they belong remains a Million Dollar Question!

Picture this: Tesloy, a 28 year old Eritrean national, living in Sweden illegally for six years lands a killing as he wins a zero-tax lottery worth 101,654 Pounds (1.2 million Swedish crown), gets invited on television and receives his winnings while the Swedish authorities, having failed to deport him are just left watching it all.

Eritrea has denied taking back Tesloy and Sweden has been left with no choice but to play host to yet another forced guest. Hundreds such illegals whose countries have refused taking them back live in today’s Sweden, the reason for the respective countries not accepting them back being that the immigrants themselves have not agreed to the deportation in the first place.

Makes me wonder – who is the stronger of the two – an illegal immigrant or the nation that wants to send these aliens back?

That might be Sweden! But, how’s the illegal immigrants’ situation in your country? How about their deportation? Your voices welcome!

In the US, they usually only deport individuals who have committed crimes. However, they usually cross back over the border within a week after being deported back to Mexico.

Thanks for your comments, ahol888. I see that you are talking only about Mexican criminals! Has the 'outside' world shrunk so much for the US? Or is it that non-Mexicans do not indulge in crime?

While I understand the US-Mexican situation, am interested in understanding the situation vis-a-vis other nationals too.

Fine, a least take back the 1.2 million from Tesloy until he applies for and is granted citizenship in Sweden. However, I never knew that a person had to agree to be deported.

Taking back the 1.2 million would be grossly unfair, don't you think wykedengel (given the fact that rules do not stipulate that the lottery is only for citizens)? On your other point I thought Eritrea / other countries are being fair to its nationals and do not want to do something against their wishes!!

But yes, I admit this is no simple issue and calls for effective reforms.
