McNabb TD Run

Philadelphia Eagles QB Donovan McNabb was sidelined Sunday due to a rib injury sustained during game against the Carolina Panthers at Bank of America Stadium, Charlotte, NC.

CHARLOTTE, NC - Eagles QB Donovan McNabb had to leave the game mid third quarter on Sunday after sustaining a rib injury.

The veteran QB was injured on a 3-yard touchdown run with 7:07 remaining in the third quarter which put the Eagles ahead of the Carolina Panthers 38-10.

McNabb connected 10 out of 18 passes for 79 yards with two touchdowns and one interception, he also added 27 rushing yards and a touchdown run.

Back up QB Kevin Kolb replaced McNabb for the rest of the game as the Eagles are only carrying two quarterbacks on their active roster due to Michael Vick's two week regular season suspension. Vick will be eligible to play in game three at home against the Kansas City Chiefs.

Kolb went 7 out of 11 for 23 yards with two sacks and zero touchdowns.

The Eagles announced that McNabb suffered a rib injury before the end of the game and coach Andy Reid confirmed the injury during the post game press conference. Reid also did not rule out McNabb for next Sundays game against the New Orleans Saints.

What's an Eagles fan to do?

Donovan McNabb was selected by the Eagles as the second overall pick in round one of the 1999 NFL Draft. He has led the Eagles to four consecutive NFC East division championships (2001, 2002, 2003, and 2004), five NFC championship games (2001, 2002, 2003, 2004 and 2008) and one Super Bowl (Super Bowl XXXIX which ended up in a loss to the New England Patriots 24-21).

Throughout his ten year career Donovan McNabb has had ups and downs along with his share of injuries, going down three out of five years with six or more games remaining in the regular season. Starting in 2002 with a broken ankle then in 2005 with a sports hernia along with a sore thumb and finally in 2006 when he tore a ligament in his right knee.

Number five has been cheered and jeered throughout his career as a Philadelphia Eagle, with one of the low points last season when coach Reid benched Donovan at half time during a 36-7 loss to the Baltimore Ravins. Soon after they were calling for his head in the city of brotherly love.

There is no doubt depending on the severity of the injury and how it will effect his play, questions will be asked again about McNabb's future in Philadelphia.

I gotta tell ya I've been an Eagles fan since I learned what a touchdown was and I'm getting tired of being heart broken every year.

I will bet Donovan plays this coming week without missing a game. The man is a warrior and Philly fans need to lay off him. Without him you guys would have been terrible for years!

Oh I hope your right! Don't get me wrong I think he's great although sometimes I wonder if there's some sort of a curse on the whole Eagles team. lol!

I like McNabb, except when they play the Giants and as a Giants fan, the longer he's out the better, but McNabb is a warrior. He will find a way to play next week because if Kolb has to play, it won't be the same. But Eagles showed what kind of firepower they are capable of this year. Hardest division in football.

You got that right! If Mcnabb gets healthy I think it gonna be a tough battle in the NFC East between Philly, New York and Dallas as usual.

Don't worry. The Eagles just signed Jeff Garcia. Kevin Kolb is a joke. 7 for 11 for 23 yards. I see why they brought in Michael Vick.

Cool! I'm glad they got Garcia back. Your right Kolb just can't cut it.
