I could not believe my eyes while I watched the 2009 VMA's tonite. Taylor Swift had just won an award, begun to speak and graciously begin to say thank you when Kanye West boldy approached her on stage. He took the microphone away from Taylor Swift and began to tell everyone in his own way how Beyonce should be the recipient of the award. In all my years of watching award ceremonies, this is the rudest behavior I have ever witnessed. The voters voted and voted for Taylor. Of course, everyone will now be either talking about Kanye West, or Taylor Swift on September 14. What could she do? Exit stage left and the show must go on. Perhaps his opinions could have been shared in a more professional manner, but not during an acceptance speech.
I must add that Beyonce is a class act. Towards the end of the awards, Beyonce won video of the year, and instead of using the time to accept the award, she offered the time to Taylor Swift and let her have her moment. Hats off to Beyonce for showing Kanye West how to behave!
