Fall is now arriving which means that flu season will be in full swing in a few weeks. Now not only do we have to worry about the seasonal flu, but as we all know there is the H1N1 virus, also known as the swine flu. Now while many of us including myself are worried about the swine flu becoming widespread throughout the United States, I believe we all need to be more prepared than worried. There are precautions out there to help ensure that you as well as your family stay safe. Always make sure to wash your hands or carry hand sanitizer with you at all times. Avoid contact with your eyes, nose and mouth, as this is the main way that the germs spread and pass on the disease. Young kids are the hardest to get to stop touching there faces, so be extra careful and watch them as much as you can.
Now I know many of you have children in school as well as I do, and that is my main worry. Is a parent going to send there child to school knowing there sick just so they dont miss time off work? I have seen it happen before in the past, but I hope knowing what they know now, that parents take the right precautions to stop this from spreading. When I heard that the swine flu was going to see a rise in the number of cases that are expected to show up over the next few months, I must admit I wanted to just quarantine my house and keep my kids home everyday, but of course I cant do that. I may over react on a lot of things. but this is something that scares me.
Cleanliness and sanitation is the best way to prevent the spread of the swine flu, and once again if you are sick, please stay home from work or school, and help keep the number of cases from rising. We all need to be a part of the solution , not the problem. Lets prove the statistics wrong America and banish this illness before it even has time to become a pandemic. I am not saying it will be easy but it is possible. If your sick, stay home, and help make the swine flu a thing of the past so we have a healthier future.
