Women empowerment in the railways
Railway Minister Mamata Banerjee has plenty of novel ideas and providing hostesses to take care of the passengers is one of these. She wants to introduce the system in the prestigious Rajdhani Express and the Shatabdi Express trains. These hostesses would focus on the food served and the hospitality in general with respect to fresh linen, clean environment etcetera. It would be similar to the duties and responsibilities the air hostesses and will open up another avenue of employment for women in the Indian railways. The previous one was the all-women Police force. Her people are working out the finer details and soon the advertisements for recruitment might be released.
