The New York Police Department inserted into a report entitled "Radicalization in the West: the homegrown threat" a "statement of clarification" that includes that a tiny minority of Muslims are radicals. The report was originally written in 2007 and drew anger from many in the Islamic community.
Perhaps the New York Police Department should speek with the people working at the Pew Global Attitudes Project. A recent poll showed that 68 percent of Muslim respondants in Palestine support suicide bombings against civvilians. While numbers have dropped since 2002, five of the eight of them have shown an icrease of support in the last year.
It would be comferting too believe that these are simply enablers although another poll shows that a majority agrees with Al-Qaeda's goals of getting the United States to follow Sharia law. Then there's the fact that a novel about murdering Pope Benedict XVI became a best seller in Turkey and you have to ask if the NYPD are simply caving in.
