WORLD SOCIALIST WATCH ALERT UPDATE: Colin Powell Encourages School Kids In Socially Responsible Behavior, Emulating Stealth Socialist Obama
Has Colin Powell sent a secret message to his Socialist co-conspirator in the White House by indoctrinating the innocent young children of America into the anti-American values of (oh, HORRORS!) socialism?
It certainly may seem so as Mr. Powell took a tour of the Boys & Girls Club on Sigourney Street in Hartford, Ct, Wednesday (Sept 9th), sharing stories of his vast experiences with dozens of current and former club members.
A member of the Boys & Girls Clubs of America board of governors who helped dedicate the Trinity College Boys & Girls Club in 1998, former Secretary of State Powell replied to questions about his childhood, military, and political careers, including his years in Vietnam, the State Department, and –of course-- the White House.
Fortunately, for the ever-vigilant watchdogs of the Irrational Right, his behavior was recorded by the mega-billionaire owned news media, so there should be a nationwide hue and cry over this wickedness in short order.
After, all, doing such a thing cannot possibly sit well with many of his conservative fellow-travelers, since it so closely resembles the attempt earlier this week when President Barack Obama tried to lure their precious tykes into the evil path of World Socialism by asking them to stay in school, work hard, and be responsible members of society.
Obviously, these are not the kinds of things that Republicans want their kids being saddled with as they go through life. Their children should be completely free to fail miserably, not go beyond high school in their education, work as counter-help for minimum wage at a local McJob, struggle to both pay their rent and pay for the health care that their parents so successfully kept the vile Barack Hussein Obama from making available for all Americans, and they won’t even have to worry about any ‘death panels’ at the ends of their lives ‘cause they’ll probably be GLAD to get their miserable existences over with by then.
But, then again, in the interests of considering all sides of the issue, perhaps this is just another example of the benign neglect of the compassionate conservative.
But, getting back to the non-issue at hand, this is also not the first time that leaders of the faux-patriotic, Constitution-hating, thinking-free, WASP contingent of the right have had problems with the retired four-star general.
For example, in 2008, in an appearance on ‘Face the Nation,’ former vice president Dick Cheney growled that Powell was out of the GOP because the career soldier had supported Barack Obama (there's that name again) in the 2008 presidential election; a decision that was seconded by the other un-announced member of the membership committee for the Republican Party, Rush Limbaugh. Of course, with the ex-Halliburton employee pretending that he could somehow dictate who was and wasn’t a party member, even though he has never held any office in the party itself, and do so on national TV, no less.
However, in response to the retired oil executive’s pontification, the former secretary of state said that the former Vice President was wrong to believe that Powell would leave the party with his tail between his legs. "I've always tried to vote for the best man," Powell had the temerity to say, adding, "The nation needs two parties, two parties debating each other, -- but what we have to do is debate and define who we are and what we are, and not just listen to diktats that come from the right wing of the party."
(Editor’s note: observe how the supposedly ‘patriotic’ ex-general used a German word here, which according to freedictionary.com mean,.1. A harsh, unilaterally imposed settlement with a defeated party; 2. An authoritative or dogmatic statement or decree. Clearly, this guy hangs out at Greenwich Village bistros sipping espressos with followers of Che Guevara, Lenny Bruce and other pinko sympathizers while listening to jazz played by a gay Chelsea Boy trio – he should be ASHAMED!)
"Neither he nor Rush Limbaugh are members of the membership committee of the Republican Party," Powell stated drily, "I get to make my decision on that -- I will continue to work in a way that I think is helpful for the country, and helpful for the party."
Schieffer, the host of Nation asked then about radio host Rush Limbaugh, who has repeatedly blasted Powell for supporting Obama.
"I don't want to exchange insults with him," Powell said. "I laid out a very specific set of reasons as to why I was voting for Barack Obama. Mr. Limbaugh saw fit to dismiss all those reasons and put it into a racial context, that the only reason I did it was I was black and that I had never voted for a Democrat before. Oh, yes, I had."
He even listed the men he voted for to be president: John F. Kennedy, Lyndon Johnson, Jimmy Carter, Ronald Reagan twice, George H.W. Bush twice and George W. Bush twice.
Powell added about Limbaugh: "He put it in that racial context, and I thought that that was very unfortunate. What about the other 69 million people (the majority of whom were not Black, it should also be noted) who voted for Barack Obama?"
"Rush Limbaugh has an audience of 20 million people. A lot of people listen daily to him and live by every word. But words mean things, and how you use words is very important."
"I think Rush articulates his point of view in ways that offend very many -- It does get the base all fired up, and he's got a strong following. But personally, if he would listen to me, and I doubt if he would, the notion is express yourselves, but let's respect others' opinions and let's not be divisive."
Nevertheless, the oh-so reasonable sounding ex-military man should take heed of the increasingly atavistic (if not to say, flat out barbarian-like) behavior that members of his party are resorting to in their mindless drive to un-seat the first Black president. Rep. Joe Wilson for shouting ‘You lie’ at President Barack Obama during his speech to Congress on Tuesday (an extraordinary breach of decorum for which the South Carolina Republican swiftly apologized) is only one step removed from the unwashed masses rioting in the street, after all.
Democrats and Republicans alike are denouncing the South Carolina Republican’s act, but of course the indignant members of the party of Limbaugh (uhh, I mean, Lincoln, of course I mean Party of Lincoln … am I the only one to notice the irony here?) had their fingers crossed behind their backs when they stood before the cameras.
