A Soldiers last letter

The soldiers of this country went on strike, I wonder is there another country in the world that would tolerate this, then we have the Police firing rubber bullets and stun grenades at the striking soldiers, we then hear that all those involved in the strike action face the possibility of being fired, then to top it all we now find out that our beloved protectors of this country have a trade union that they belong to. All who participated in the strike received letters informing them of pending actions that might be taken against them and low and behold the trade union told their members to ignore the letters. So now we have the bargaining council stepping in and the case of the striking soldiers being put to arbitration. Heaven help us if there is a war and the trade union forbids their members to fight. I was in the army for four years and fought in the Rhodesian bush war, in those good old days we followed orders or faced disciplinary actions, we did not get fired we ended up in detention barracks or were dishonorably discharged and possibly court-martialled.

I listened to a retired General of the United States of American armed forces who now lives in South Africa being interviewed on the above subject, besides the disbelief in his voice for total disregard for superiors, the oath Soldiers have to swear to when joining and the fact that we have unions governing our armed forces he could not hide the snigger and he almost laughed at our armed forces.

I wonder what the world really thinks of us or do they even bother?

Announced last night, the soldiers concerned have just been informed that their jobs for now are safe and no one will be fired.

Toss your hats in the air world our government has spoken.

I have to ask, is the tail wagging the dog , or the dog wagging the tail? Or perhaps is the dog chasing it's own tail around in a circle.
My apologies to all of the canines out there, nothing personal meant, it's just a human saying!!!

Incidents like this defy belief. It goes beyond even the usual insanity that we have become so accustomed to in this country. What next?
