Entertainer Janet Jackson is finally ready to talk about the death of her brother, Michael Jackson. She opens up in the October issue of Harper's Bazaar.
Ms. Jackson, said, "People can have rhinoceros skin, but there's a point when something's going to hurt you. Not everyone is stone, stone. I haven't watched the news in weeks. I had to ask my chef, 'How's Obama doing?' I haven't read a newspaper."
Janet last saw her brother two days before her 43rd birthday at a family event on May 14th, 2009. She said they had so much fun together and kept calling each other on the phone to say how wonderful the day was for the both of them.
When Janet heard the tragic news of her brother's death, she was on the set of an upcoming Tyler Perry movie being filmed in Atlanta. She immediately flew to Los Angeles to grieve with her family.
In response to her niece speaking at the memorial service at the Staples Center, she had this to say. "I was really proud. People said to me that Michael's daughter speaking really gave them a sense of how he was as a father, in her words. Paris is incredibly smart; they are all so smart. She's a sweet girl. The kids are doing well. They're with all their cousins; that family love will keep them going."
Janet has thrown herself into her new movie to help her deal with the loss of her brother. She attributes her mother, Katherine, in teaching her about the grieving process and building strength.
Janet will make a special appearance at the MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday night to honor her beloved brother.
