A child daycare owner was sentenced to 25 years in prison for letting her ex-boyfriend sexually abuse and film children -- some of them infants -- in her care in what US District Court Judge Lawrence Stengel called a "sociopathic" child-pornography case.
After a trial that shocked the community, Concetta Jackson, 47, of Collingdale, Pennsylvania, was sentenced in federal court in Philadelphia by Judge Stengel for one count of producing child pornography, in connection with the case against serial child predator John Worman,
According to court documents, Jackson ran a babysitting service and, between 1997 and 2002, she would give the children in her care to John Worman knowing that he was going to sexually abuse them.
With Jackson’s knowledge, Worman videotaped and photographed his sexual abuse of the children. Jackson also turned over a six-week-old baby for Worman to sexually abuse and allowed Worman to live in her home with her and her own children.
Worman and another co-defendant in the case, Dorothy Prawdzik, were convicted after a three-week jury trial. The evidence at trial consisted largely of photographs and videos that Worman had made of his crimes. Judge Stengel sentenced Worman to 120 years in prison and sentenced Prawdzik to 30 years in prison.
This case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative designed to protect children from online exploitation and abuse. Led by the United States Attorneys Offices, Project Safe Childhood marshals federal, state, and local resources to better locate, apprehend, and prosecute individuals who exploit children via the Internet, as well as identify and rescue victims.
