Educating America: Does Bill Gates Need A Tax Writeoff?

It was reported in the mainstream media sources that Bill Gates and his Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation have formally entered into a partnership to encourage the youth in this country to get educated and graduate with Viacom, the owner of MTV, Nickelodeon and other televised media outlets.

Mr. Gates indicated he was supporting this mission in order that America can remain "globally competitive", which was announced conveniently on the day after Mr. Obama made his pitch to America's school children through a direct feed broadcast through America's public school system, as a one of the goals of this charitable foundation where he has apparently focused his energies primarily now after formally leaving the day to day affairs of Microsoft within the past few years.

In the articles, it pointed to the increasing number of kids who are dropping out of school without graduating.

Left out, however, was any indication whether these were actually dropouts, or increases in the number of parents who are pulling their kids out of America's public school systems in order to either home school them, or provide other means and methods of developing and expanding their children's education outside of the publicly provided programs.

It was also interesting to note that while Mr. Gates also was quoted as indicating how difficult it is now to find highly skilled "tech" students, Mr. Gates had been also one who testified in Congress regarding increasing the number of HB-1 guest worker visas for his industries needs and Microsoft.

Microsoft has a huge employment base in India, and also imports many to work for his corporation, and also to provide for workers for Silicon Valley high tech venture firms in California. Although it was pointed out in the article that Mr. Gates had not visited a single California university for American college students or upcoming graduates, and many of those Indian workers were less skilled than many of those graduating from highly expensive American universities in the computer field.

Oh, and by the way, Mr. Gates attended Harvard University although appears spent much of his college experience working in his field of interest primarily, and then subsequently dropped out after two years without completing his formal degree to start his partnerships which eventually lead to his control and ownership of Microsoft.

Within the last year it was announced that the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation also received a substantial grant from Warren Buffett also.

Maybe he simply needed a tax write-off, since it does appear that hiring American high school or college educated computer trained technical workers has not been one of his major focuses.

But more a preference for hiring foreign workers, at the lowest rates under those Visas, apparently, that are applicable.

Did I also mention that apparently some hardware and software providers that get much of their workforce also from India have starting charging additional fees with their service plans that include added charges for "domestic" (American) technical support assistance?

I guess all those profits from the continuing war in Iraq and the domestic spying program aren't providing enough dividends or executive level compensation dollars at this point.
