Cai Mingjie was a Ph D scholar of Stanford University but fate ordained that he drive cabs in Singapore. He had a cushy job in a Singapore Research institution, and worked for 16 long years as principal investigator. He was a professor but once he lost the job he found himself literally on the streets – behind the steering wheels of a cab. He tried various avenues and kept dispatching his CVs but nothing happened. So, he rented a cab and began to drive on the streets of Singapore. He has put his experiences on his blog and has a large fan following with offers of employment.
