Buzz Returns Home

In June of 2008 a 12-inch action figure from the Pixar movie “Toy Story” – astronaut Buzz Lightyear embarked on a journey into space with his fellow human astronauts aboard the Space Shuttle for a trip to the International Space Station where he has been residing ever since. On Monday Buzz was packed away along with all the other gear for his trip home. Buzz’ journey was called to “infinity and beyond.”

Space Mission Control asked the crew of the shuttle Discovery to make sure Buzz was tucked away for his journey home where he will be honoured next month.

Until very recently Buzz kept pretty much to himself, but has been busy over the last week working on a film for some of his fans. Among the scenes for the film, Buzz was filmed sleeping with a fellow astronaut, and flying through a chamber on the space station with one of his human astronauts.

Upon his return home Buzz will participate in a number of “debriefings” and will join astronaut Buzz Aldrin for a ticker-tape parade at Disney World in October.

With his flight into space last June Buzz Lightyear has become the longest serving astronaut in space.
