For the first time in the history of the Venice Film Festival the Lifetime Achievement Award was given to a movie studio instead of the usual single filmmaker. John Lasseter and his fellow directors at Pixar Studios received the award.
For Pixar the Lifetime began in 1986 where they pioneered the age of digital animation. Three years ago the studio merged with Disney.
Thanks to Pixar children have new friends like Nemo, Woody, Buz Lightyear, Sulley, Wall-E, and Mater. Four of the 10 movies created by Pixar have gone on to win the coveted Academy Award also known as the Oscar. Some of the entertainment created by Pixar Studios are "Cars", the "Toy Story" series, "Up", "Monsters Inc", The Incredibles", "Ratatouille", "Wall-E", and "Finding Nemo".
In honour of the occasion, the Festival allowed children in to preview the new 3-D versions of "Toy Story" and "Toy Story 2". The movies will be released in the US later in the fall.
