The Arewa Traditional and Religious Leaders have blamed politicians for been the plotters of religious crisis in the North and the involvement of youths as political torques, at the Arewa Traditional and Religious Leaders Retreat held at Kaduna state.

The religious Crisis which have led to losses of lives and damage of properties in the north, most especially in Kaduna state have been said to be more of political than religion by His Royal Highness, Saul Swade, CON of Adamawa state who sees no religious crisis in the North but a political plot to gain power.

His Royal Highness, Saul Swade, CON of Adamawa state said” It’s said that the religious crisis in the North are fought for the religious value in the name of God but what kind of God delights in killing of one another by a fellow human being in His name for the promotion of His religion. If we understand what religion is we would know that there is no such thing like religious crisis but political plots for power.”

The Traditional & Religious Leaders also attributed the religious crisis in the North to unemployment, lack of awareness to educate the people and street begging. Saying that if the people have something doing and are educated, no matter the amount of money someone gives to them to kill, they will refuse.

His Royal Highness, Joshua Dimlong Ngolng NGA of Plateau state said” the politicians have taken advantage of unemployment and poverty to use the youths as political torque to kill one another. Let us take street begging for an example, a youth who begs for N5 or N20 and eventually given N300 to kill before you know it he would massacre 300 people in 30 minutes.

Commenting further, His Royal Highness, Joshua said that what the politicians fails to understand is that by killing other people they also hurt themselves, and why are we so blind to see that the ones they hurt in the quest to gain power are ourselves.

In an interview with the Secretary General of Christian Association of Nigeria of Northern States and Abuja, Mr. S. Dogo, who pointed out that the violent crisis in the North are been caused by the Northern Governors in the expense of acquiring political seats by taking advantage of poverty in the North to exploit the people.

“People should stop saying that there are religious crisis in the North, for there are no such things what we have here are political crisis. The two religions are both against killing because the Holy Books Qu’ran and Bible both says ‘Do not kill’, and simply because some politicians feels they have the money to make crisis because lost an election or wants to gain political recognition, they went ahead to pay people to kill one another.”

While speaking Mr. S. Dogo who said that 70% of the nation’s poverty are in the North and with these high rate of poverty the politicians easily finds their way to exploit the youths with money and get them to kill each other. To checkmate the religious crisis CAN have created the Religious Harmony Committee that comprises of both Christians and Muslim worshippers in order to seek a lasting solution to religious crisis and to reduce religious discrimination in the country.

Mr. S. Dogo called on the politicians to adopt dialogue, saying that in any way “Dialogue is better than fighting”.
