As we continue to look at the different groups heading into the UEFA Champions League Group Stage, let us look at the four teams in Group F: Barcelona, Inter Milan, Dynamo Kiev, and FC Rubin Kazan (which is the coolest name that I have ever heard for a soccer team). Out of all of the groups, this is the easiest one to predict one through four.
1. FC Barcelona. The defending champions are looking to be the first team to repeat in the Champions League since UEFA implemented the coefficient rankings about 15 years ago. They may have the chance to make history with players like Messi, Xavi, Iniesta, Ibrahimovic, Henry, Krkic, Puyol, Pique, and Victor Valdes in goal. Barcelona and Chelsea are the only two teams in this tournament without any weaknesses.
2. Inter Milan. Coach Jose Mourinho will get to coach against his former team, Barcelona. Eto'o will get to play against his former team, Barcelona, the team he won a championship with last year. This team has made themselves better by adding Diego Milito and Wesley Sneijder. Last year's team lacked scoring depth and creativity. They addressed those problems nicely. The defense is solid with Julio Cesar, the starting goalkeeper for Brazil, in goal.
3. Dynamo Kiev. Two signings that will make this team possibly spring an upset are Gerson Magrao, an awesome midfielder who played for Cruzeiro last year, and Andrei Shevchenko, who three years ago was one of the best goal scorers in the world. If Shevchenko can find what he had lost with this team, then they will be a tough out.
4. FC Rubin Kazan. The Russian champions from last season will be getting clobbered in every game. The only advantage that they will have is that it will be cold in Russia when they play home games.
Only two more groups to go. Stay tuned.
