Apparently, the definition of the word "hero" has a radically different meaning in the United Nations then it does for me. Fidel Castro, a man who has killed thousands upon thousands of his own citizens, thrown pollitical opponents in jail, and leads a repressive dictatorship; has just gotten the title "World Hero of Solidarity."
The man who gave the award was President of the General Assembly Miguel D’Escoto Brockman. Brackman had previosly lobbied the Obama Administration to reinstate former president Manuel Zelaya to power after the Supreme Court ordered him arrested for, in the words of court chairmanJ osé Tomás Arita,“acting against the established form of government, treason against the country, abuse of authority, and usurpation of power.” It seems that Brockman was successful as the Obama Administration has imposed sanctions on Honduras and they have indicated that they will not accept the legitamicy of the upcoming elections unless the would-be tyrant is reinstated.
