As a recent Allvoices.com member, it seems that people are getting a bit confused with the incentive program that was initiated earlier this year. Perhaps a little step-by-step explanation is in order. And to make things very simple for all of you to understand, read the important steps below:
1. Between April 30, 2009 and December 31, 2009 will this incentive program be offered.
2. You must be enrolled in the program. Registered Allvoices users can enroll from the [Edit] icon next to your username. Click on Incentive Program on the far left side of the screen and make sure you see a checkmark in a box that will pop up. If the box is not clicked you have not entered the program.
3. You must write original content to qualify. All too often I see a bit of plaigarism here and there. If you must write something write it from your point of view. Avoid paraphrasing every sentence you read - construct your own article! If you need facts and figures check them out to make sure they're correct before reporting them. And, please, please, please - use Spell Check before submitting!
4. Promote your profile page and become involved with the Allvoices community to build your reputation. Advertise your expertise outside the site. I have promoted my stories and site through a couple of other social networking sites - you should do the same.
5. If you do find that you have money due you must fill out a tax form provided by Allvoices. Go to http://www.allvoices.com/incentive/terms on how to get paid. Print a copy for your records!
6. Have fun and good luck in your future journalistic endeavors!
I know that jumping through fiery hoops and overcoming obstacles aren't that appealing to anyone. Yet, we all must follow the rules and codes of conduct at Allvoices. I will endeavor to provide you with the proper tools and tricks of the journalistic trade so you can find your own style and concentrate on being the best reporter here.
Writing is not a lazy profession. It does take an effort to write well, spell well, and get your ideas and points across efficiently and effectively. But it is fun to be able to say "I'm a citizen reporter!" So exercise that fundamental right of freedom of speech and expression.
