When Batman's not catching villains the likes of Joker, Penguin, Poison Ivy or Bane, he's capturing Guinness World Records.
Rocksteady Studios' Batman: Arkham Asylum (Arkham) won a Guinness World Record for the "Most Critically Acclaimed Superhero Game Ever."
With Arkham being the Rocksteady Studio's sophomore title (their first release was the mediocre Urban Chaos: Riot Response) the Highgate, North London-based company managed to knock the gaming community on their butts.
Raking in millions, Arkham currently sits on top of the U.S and U.K gaming charts. With influential gaming sites like IGN, Gamespy, and Game Informer giving the sleuth-brawler hybrid almost perfect scores.
Brad Cook and entertainment writer for Examiner.com says "the greatest secret of Arkham is really rather a simple one; included in a title which boasts great visuals and easy interface, is one truly compelling and entirely unique story."
Hiring writer Paul Dini (Batman Beyond and Batman: The Animated Series) and voice acting veterans Kevin Conroy (Batman) and Mark Hamil (Joker) to reprise their respective roles, complemented the visually stunning game.
Unlike Iron Man, G.I. Joe and Watchmen, which served as tie-ins to their respective films, Arkham isn't a game that ties into any of the Batman movies. It ties in more with the mythos of Gotham's finest crime fighter.
"In short, Batman: Arkham Asylum is not a movie tie-in; it may very well be best categorized as a Batman tie-in." Cook said. "And that is exactly what fans of the superhero are looking for."
