Instead of an Obituary for Chanel the Oldest Dog

These are a few words of consolation for Denice Shaughnessy and her husband Karl who have to accept the unfortunate demise of their favorite Chanel. These are a few words instead of an obituary for Chanel. Chanel was believed to be the oldest living dog in the world before her death on last Friday, 28th August, 2009 and she was 21 years old.
Chanel was a dachshund and when she was a puppy of one and half of a month Shaughnessy adopted her as a pet. It was in 1988 and Shaughnessy was then in the Army and a single mother. Chanel came then to live in her family near Port Jefferson Station area.
Chanel was a celebrity in her life. On the "Today" show and "Live! With Regis and Kelly." her appearance was serious and she perhaps enjoyed it. On the fundraiser at Tavern on the Green she looked up from her stroller and seemed to say, 'is all this for me?' --- Such Shaughnessy said. But this was Chanel’s months for final departure.
This small pooch had cataracts in the eyes and she had to wear sunglasses. She had lost capacity to walk or run and a stroller was ready for her. A few years ago she used to enjoy jogs every day. But a tumor developed in her hind leg and she became crippled by nature. Her meal was simple – three meals a day. Chicken legs she loved most.
Chanel will occupy a place in the 2010 edition of Guinness World Records.
