Jyoti Raju is a young man originally from The State of Tamilnadu, India. He now resides in the historically famous Chitradurga Fort, Karnataka. He earns his living by entertaining (or, shall we say, stunning) the visitors to the fort by climbing the tall stone structures and walls at the fort without the help of ropes with total ease just like a monkey, thus earning himself the title 'Monkey Man'. His strange life story is that early in his life, he was just like any other normal youth. Then suddenly he began seeing a nightmare in his sleep every night which depicted him as falling down from a huge stone structure, and huge rocks falling on his body, seemingly crushing him to death. He got so distuirbed by this recurring nightmare that he almost became insane, and one day, upon the advice from his friend, left Tamilnadu for Chitradurga to work as a daily wage labourer. At Chitradurga too, nightmare continued, and he decided to commit suicide by falling down from a tall natural stone structure at Chitradurga fort. He went to the fort, started climbing up the structure with bare hands as if he was possessed, when he suddenly realised it was this same stone structure that used to haunt him in his nightmare! Upon reaching the top, he looked down and saw some tourists cheering at his extraordinary feat. That changed his mind, he dropped the idea of suicide, climbed down the stone structure, went home. Surprisingly he was not troubled by the nightmare that night! He felt a great relief, and climbing the walls and tall stones of the fort became his daily routine. LAter, with the help of a spiritual practitioner, Raju realised that in his earlier incarnation, he was the head of a monkey clan at Chitradurga fort, and one day, he had died due to a snake-bite while climbing down a stone structure. How strange it is that destiny brought him back to Chitradurga fort in his present incarnation as a human being too! As a testimony to his story, the monkeys dwelling at the fort are very friendly with him, and he spends considerable amount of the money he earns to buy food for his simian friends!
