Manliest restaurant, serves brain sandwiches

The manliest restaurant according to Asylum.com is the Hilltop Inn which serves brain sandwiches.

The Hilltop Inn is located on the west side of a southwestern Indiana city, Evansville.

The Hilltop killed the competition for manliest restaurant after getting 60 percent of the vote from Asylum.com an AOL website targeted at young men.

Brain sandwiches are a staple for the Hilltop Inn and for Evansville. Their West Side Nut Club serves up the popular delicacy every fall at a huge festival

Owners Don and Lanette Snyder weren't expecting it to get this kind of attention.

"All the restaurants were from major cities so we were surprised we were able to keep up with them let alone win,"

Don said.

"The brain sandwiches have been flying out of here like they had wings on them,"

Lanette added.

The Hilltop Inn isn't a stranger to national attention for their brain sandwiches having been featured on the Food Network a few years ago.

If you go to a restaurant in some countries, fried brains are served--either cow or lamb. Back in the 1950s, mom bought brains from the butcher-cow probably. And boiled them. We kids had to eat them. Luckily, there was no mad cow disease in 1950s. Needless to say, I've been a vegetarian for nearly 30 years. The restaurants serving the brains bread them and fry them in beer batter or pancake batter of some type so they look and taste like crisp-fried fish or chicken-fried steak. The brains taste soft and mushy and need to be seasoned with spices. They're servied on a heel of rye bread. No, eating brains, won't make anyone smarter. Nowadays, you wonder about BSEs and vCJD. No, I won't eat meat.

They could dip brains and chocolate and smother them with whipped cream, I still would not eat them. LOL

There is nothing wrong with enjoying something new and completly different from what you are used to eatting. You should always open youself to new things even if they don't sound appetizing. I would eat this if only one time just to experience it.

I don't like liver or any kind of guts, I imagine the taste is quite the same, I don't think I could get myself to eat brains. Probably if I liked gizzards I would try it.
