Less than a year after surviving a firey plane crash with musical collaborator Travis Barker, DJ AM was found dead in a New York City apartment Friday afternoon. While an official cause of death has not been established, police say drug paraphernalia was found at the scene. The family is asking for privacy in the matter.
Born Adam Michael Goldstein, the 36 year old DJ AM threw out the first pitch at a New York Mets game last week. In 2005 it was announced that DJ AM was engaged to reality star Nicole Richie; an engagement that was broken in 2006.
In September of 2008 DJ AM and Blink 182 drummer Travis Barker were the sole survivors in a small plane that crashed while still on the runway in South Carolina. The two men suffered second and third degree burns from the incident. Goldstein had filed a $20 million suit against the plane's manufacturers after the crash.
