Let the Man Rest in Peace

In the wake of Senator Ted Kennedy's death, conservative talk show radio hosts are licking their chops, poking fun and making tasteless jokes on the newly dead Senator's behalf.

Rush Limbaugh of WABC chomped at the bits, noting Kennedy's reputation as "the lion of the Senate, we were his prey." Limbaugh did admit, "I'm a little uncomfortable going after Ted Kennedy today on matters of politics," but he took in many calls from listeners who showed no compassion.

Limbaugh focused on "the slobbering media coverage" of his life and the health-care plan Kennedy highly supported. Tom Marr called Kennedy a "left-of-Lenin liberal."

Sean Hannity was kind enough to say, "We send his family our deepest condolences," while fearful his death would be used to push President Obama's health-care plan.

Glenn Beck stated, "Regardless of what you thought of his politics, we certainly feel for his family in this tough time. Just another reminder that cancer doesn't care about party." Thanks Glenn, you finally showed some human capabilities.

Just goes to show how politically charmless some of these radio talk show hosts can be.

Those were some spectacularly tasteless opinions. Famous deaths are like media gristle nowadays and that is sad. Ted Kennedy was a political Icon whatever else he was, and a man who must have done something right to stay in the senate and get reelected for 47 years. But it see,s his standing was such that even his most ardent opponents don't want to defame him openly. I hope the things he stood for, like working for the poor and dedication to public service continue to inspire people.

People like Rush and Sean make me want to run for cover. They are so outrageously gross in their statements and have absolutely NO CLASS. Why do they think they have to yell when they talk?

You must be a Republican. Just as people can turn the channel, they also don't have to read articles that will annoy them.

Your article does not annoy me - it's well written.Politics are not personal - and that's my only point.

If politics are not personal, then why do people fight over politics all the time? All I said was you must be a Republican, I could tell by your comment. Don't take it personally.
  • Reply By Write4Life Write4Life | 3 months ago
People fight over politics due to different viewpoints. However, when a man or woman goes INTO politics as a career, their decisions are subject to the critique of the people (who fight over the decisions.) I've voted both Democratic and Republican. I vote for the person - and their policies - not their party.
