KWH NGO Conducted Survey Regarding Drug Addicts near Pak Afghan Border

When Soviet Union assaulted on Afghanistan people were authorized to grow Poppy instead of others crops in order to buy war head tools. the people started to grow poppy in every province of the country later on Afghanistan become main heroin market smuggling of heroin were initiated towards the western countries. The people openly set up heroin factories to produced heroin. When the Afghan people migrated to tribal areas also set up heroin factories become tribal people heroin addicts.

During Taliban regime due to imposition of various sanctions against them by the United Nations (UN) once again the crops of poppy were started to grow in abundance. The Afghan people earned enough money in the era of Taliban government continued for five six years on Afghanistan soil.

The Taliban were made responsible regarding the world trade centre accident in the United States of America. The Khyber Welfare Home NGOs came into being in 1992 is the principal statistical of non government non profitable Organization charged with the overall responsibility of coordinating all social activities in Landi Kotal (Khyber Agency). The Organization passed through crucial time in agency through great difficulties during the past few decades (especially in era of Taliban) resulting kept maintain of its capability to perform its very important function for civil society. The CSOs presently more than 26 working under Khyber Welfare Home Organization through channel network these local CSOs spread in Landi kotal and Jamrud Tehsils some near urban and one two of them working in rural area of the Khyber agency. Khyber Welfare Home objectives to develop a sense of mutual cooperation among the people of rural area. Especially in the tribal society and convince them for the basic education, health and income generation. Aims to upgrade the life standard of the people of far flung areas. The survey report reveals Afghan people living near border area still operating more than 45 heroin factories producing heroin. These factories become main income source of their family. The entire family members bound to work in these factories also prey of drugs survey report shows. The tribal women utilizing a shawl polluted with heroin dust waves it in the room in order to keep the children in sound sleep. Khyber welfare home also conducted cross border drug addicts survey contain on various Afghan areas located near Pak Afghan border. The situations of drug addict of each area are quite different from one another which are to be mentioning below.

There are total 6% people heroin while 20% hashish addicts in Basa Wal area. Every seven person is heroin addict 25% hashish addict in Acheen Wolaswali (Adal Khel) the 15% people of Marco population become heroin addict while 20% adhered with hashish. The Ghani Khel area contain on 20% heroin addict while 13% hashish addict. The people of concern area use Naswar and cigarettes commonly mostly teenage and aged women consume these drugs.

The education ratio is too low in concerned area due to illiteracy local Pak Afghan tribal ignored the consequence of these drugs. They haven’t care the dire consequences of these drug directly on addict and indirectly on his family, the local people enjoy jobless life become burden on entire family consider himself useless part of society so that’s reason to escape from these situations took the support of various drugs. Due to easy convenience access to drugs as a common local product also create an opportunity to local people. The transporter especially those tribal drivers provide logistics support to the US led NATO coalition through trucks having tough job to reduce tidiness to get pleasure to reach to destination mostly adhered with hashish drug. There is no government restriction on drug smugglers sellers and buyers so that’s why the people are easy access to these drugs.

Khyber Welfare Home KWH (kwh.org@gmail.com) have launched social program to reduce drug addicts and give treatment facilitates to them near Pak Afghan border to make healthy society so they can utilize their efforts in the development of the country. The anti narcotics project with the help of Dost welfare foundation implemented by the KWH. The KWH conducted various workshops, seminars, sports competitions, walks, and debate competitions in schools and awareness programs against drugs. The KWH registered more than 800 drug patients 140 patients have been treated so far while 25 patients have been recovered. KWH registers drug patients for counseling by describe demerits of drugs so they can ready to get rid of these evils. .

The KWh was made responsible to send eight drug patients on monthly basis while KWH sends more than 30 patients to Dost Welfare Foundation. The Dost Welfare Foundation provides treatment facilities to patients. The KWH require own hospital in order to provide treatment because most of drug patients reluctant to go to Peshawar. They cannot afford traveling expenditure also afraid from Peshawar police fear to be arrested in Peshawar due to adhered with drug. The KWH demanded to National and International welfare Organizations to provide financial aid with the view to establish local hospital to safe lives of drug addicts near Pak Afghan border.
