When A Beauty Pageant Becomes A Business Pageant

There's a big clamour among many Asians why is it that no Asian was selected in the most awaited pageant Miss Universe 2009 in Bahamas.

What happened to the Miss Universe 2009? Did it become Asianless Miss Universe? What happened to the judges? Did It become The Donald Trump Show?

That what happens when the a beauty pageant is reinvented by a business tycoons. The beauty pageant becomes a Business pageant. Miss Universe 2009 becomes Business Universe 2009. Is it because Mr. Donald Trump could have vested interest in Europe and in Western countries? The legacy of this pageant is the causes that it promote like world peace, poverty and environmental issues. Really great causes that made the world support for Miss Universe Pageant every year, but I guess it’s reinvented.

In the past, Asians did it to the top because naturally, Asians have their own unique beauty and they are really hard workers. They give their best in every endeavor. I was hoping for Miss India, Miss Indonesia and Miss Philippines to get it to the top because in early stages they are one of the crowd favorites. What I know is Miss Universe is a pageant of the masses to create change to the whole world for the great humanitarian causes that Miss Universe stands for. But if this becomes the pageant for the few elite business people, then I guess the it’s all about business for profit. The great causes to give awareness of real humanitarian issues to the masses are glared by silver and gold.

When business tycoons dictates in Miss Universe, beauty, brains and benevolence becomes beauty brains and business. There’s a big difference, isn’t it? Definitely, like Donald Trump’s show, to the Aisans could hear…”You’re fired.”
