"Did you hear the one about..." Many jokes start that way, but this is no joke.

According to the Associated Press, a man from Nebraska stole a painting of the Virgin Mary to pay for the abortion of a teenage girl that he raped.

Aurello Vallerillo-Sanchez of Omaha faces up to 70 years in prison when sentencing comes up in October. He has been "convicted of first-degree sexual assault and felony theft." Vallerillo-Sanchez was arrested in February on the assault charges at which time his children told police about the robbery.

Sources say that Vallerillo-Sanchez left the United States for Mexico in March 2007 and took the painting and the then 14 year old pregnant girl with him. The painting's worth is $100,000. He sold it while in Mexico for $3,000, according to Vallerillo-Sanchez's daughter.

The abortion did not take place and the girl returned to the U.S. aftre giving birth.
