The Fence Reality! Cartoon by Apicella (Boy without Pajamas! And ...

Last week when I ran the commercial by Israeli telecom major Cellcom showing IDF soldiers indulging in a soccer friendly with their Palestinian counterparts (not shown in the ad) and ended up thinking loud if the commercial was way too unreal and hence out of place to the point of rubbing salt into the very Palestinian wounds, the responses I had received were in support of the commercial.

While InspectorGadget felt soccer is “a game that is well known to bring the world together”, brigidprimrose wondered if we are “not sometimes being a bit too politically minded when viewing things? “. Well, this time let’s hear it from the horses’ mouth. What do Palesinians themselves have to say? What’s their response?

The Palestinian response comes on the heels of extensive criticism heaped on the advert for making light of their suffering. In what they consider as a realistic reenactment of the game the response video shows the Palestinians kicking the ball to the Israeli side of the fence only to receive a salvo of tear gas shells in retaliation. This, the Palestinians consider is the ultimate ground reality.

What say?

I say that Israelis and Palestinians have been fighting against each other for over three thousand years. They will continue to fight each other. I did not need a youtube clip to figure that one out.

Shawshank redemption - and many more films often show a game between two opposing sides - heavily weighted to one side. That's been going on forever too.... games often mask an underlying hatred.

Ahol888 nailed it on the head. Fighting forever...

The only way Palistinians and Israelis will ever coexist is if all the adults are removed and the children (under the age of 5) ran the country's. There's so little hatred in children that one might wonder if children would be better at running the world.

You keep a tiger in a box long enough and they will know nothing more than to fight to get out.

Oh no Write4Life, you are wrong there! We adults have ensured that children are not kept out of it anymore. I remember reading somewhere (also seen an image) wherein an infant was dressed like a suicide bomber! The hatred has so seeped in!!

Oh, let me rephrase - I mean with no outside evil influence.

It's so sad that children are no longer children.

In the late 1800s a group in Europe decided to colonize this land. Known as Zionists, they represented an extremist minority of the Jewish population. Their goal was to create a Jewish homeland, and they considered locations in Africa and the Americas, before settling on Palestine.
At first, this immigration created no problems. However, as more and more Zionists immigrated to Palestine – many with the express wish of taking over the land for a Jewish state – the indigenous population became increasingly alarmed. Eventually, fighting broke out, with escalating waves of violence. Hitler's rise to power, combined with Zionist activities to sabotage efforts to place Jewish refugees in western countries, led to increased Jewish immigration to Palestine, and conflict grew. and you are so right when u say it is sad children are no longer children, even weapons are handed out to them and the only thing taught to them is violence!

The most important part is to remove the feeling of hatredness. Who is preaching hatredness?
That must be ended.
