Did you know that while Jamaican Usain Bolt set that world 100 meter record at 9.58 seconds he could have as well landed a speeding ticket? Bolt was running so fast that at his fastest he touced 30 mph, a speed that can easily land you a speeding ticket if you are on the highway!
This underlines the fact that Bolt had transcended the realms of human endeavour and was operating more like a machine during his world record breaking effort. No wonder then that we saw a huge reduction of 11 seconds from his own earlier record, set exactly an year ago at the Beijing Olympics. Never before since the time electronic recording has been introduced has such a big chunk of time been knocked off a record for world’s fastest speed!!
10 years ago when Maurice Greene knocked off 5 secs from Donovan Bailey’s 9.84 to finish at 9.79 the world was taken in with disbelief. Since Bolt's competition is with himself everybody seems to have just gone speechless! Bolt himself feels he can go for 9.4: "I could go 9.4, but I think the world stops at 9.4. For me, 9.5 is definitely a big thing".
Hey guys, get ready to get your hearts into your mouths please!
