The Taliban took Pashtani Trade Bank under siege Wednesday morning, at aproximatley 6 am, and started firing at police. The bank is located in the Seraji area of Kabul, near the presidential palace and the Justice Ministry.

“Salahuddin Ayubi, a subcommander of Jalaluddin Haqqani, claimed responsibility for the attack, adding that two police vehicles were destroyed in the attack,” Pajhwok News reported.

This attack took place on Afghanistan’s Independence Day and one day prior to its provincial and presidential election.

Radio Azadi is saying that only one of the militants is said to be alive at the moment, with 5 of the gunmen killed.
