According to MSN.com, 90 percent of US paper money has traces of cocaine on it. This is based on data from the American Chemical Society. Two years ago, only 67 percent was considered tainted.

Of course, not all bills came in direct contact with a significant amount of cocaine. Most became tainted from close contact with other bills that had the cocaine on them. Still, the rising percentage is a concern.

Law enforcement agencies hope to use this information to track international drug trafficking.

If the money is tainted, it's probably because the printing ink is loaded
with cocaine. It has been a known fact from Australia before, that some types of printing ink have a cocaine mixture in the production of the ink
itself. When the ink is used for printing money or publishing newspapers,
books or literature of any kind, pamphlets, it carries the drugs with it.
