The Boston Red Sox have released John Smoltz ten days after designating him for assignment.

Once the release waivers are cleared he will be a free agent and once again the Sox are stuck footing the bill for yet another good player that just wasn't any good in a Boston uniform.

I have respect for Smoltz, he's a good pitcher and has been for a long while now, perhaps that's where the problem lies, who knows, All I do know is this is probably best for all parties concerned and no hard feelings towards Smoltz from this hardcore Boston fan.
