Bob Dylan's Police Encounter
Here is how the Henry Louis Gates Jr. story could have panned out.
An officer in New Jersey was dispatched to the Latin quarters of Long Branch over a report of an “eccentric old man” acting suspicious.
When the officer asked the man for identification, he did not have any with him. The man was then ordered into the squad car and driven to his hotel to confirm his story.
Only after calling in the name of the man and asking the people at her office, did the officer learn that the man was the legendary singer/songwriter Bob Dylan.
The 22 year old policewoman and her partner did not recognize Dylan. She admitted to never listening to his music.
Too bad Dylan didn’t resort to name calling, he missed out on an opportunity to have a beer with the president.
