India is celebrating its independence day on this 15th August. As usual the Prime Minister would unfurl the flag at the historic Red fort and give his speech.
Elsewhere in states like Tamil Nadu, the significance of National Flag is not felt as the Flags of the political parties gain importance in comparison to the national flag. If you ask a young school going student as to how our National Flag looks, he is sure to point out one of those flags belonging to a political party as they dominate the whole state and is seen everywhere! when a political party comes into power, its their political flag that can be seen on most of the street corners, cars and vans stretching their muscle power and challenging the local police to book them for all traffic violations!!
Its time that the supreme court brings some kind of legislation to contain the party flags and recognise only the National Flag which will help in National Integration. Ideally, there should not be any other flag allowed to be hoisted except the National Flag by any one in the State!
The Supreme court has recently come out with a kind of direction to the states in containing mushrooming places of worship that causes hardship for the road users uni formally across the country. A similar directive banning the party flags would go a long way not only in keeping the city clean but also help younger generations to feel and be proud of being an Indian as the National Flag would gain importance along with the status of being in an independent India!
